Year 2005, Day 1
Ah, another year has passed. Spent the evening feeling awkward at a party, but it was okay. It was a fun party put on by some of Flint’s friends who were very nice. Maybe one of my new year’s resolutions should be to learn to be less socially awkward. Heh. We’ll get to this years new year’s resolutions in a moment, though.
First, I need to discuss last year’s resolutions. I listed two. One was to start taking guitar lessons and one was to find a group to play my trumpet in. I did neither of these. I did, however, purchase a guitar, but it’s not of very good quality and it probably won’t be of much use to me. It was only $6 or something like that on eBay. I have been playing my trumpet a little bit more. I’m learning Hayden’s trumpet concerto. It’s not extremely technically challenging. The most difficult part is getting up enough lip strength to get through the whole thing. I’d like to eventually play all three movements, but am just working on the first for now.
So, yes, basically I didn’t keep either of last year’s resolutions. However, I will still make some new resolutions for 2005. One is I’d like to do better this next semester in school. I almost didn’t pass a couple of my classes last semester and I’d rather try to get A’s and B’s. So my first resolution is basically no grades below a B.
Another resolution I will make is to be more organized in my house. I’ve already started being somewhat organized and have fairly impressed with myself, but I’d like to continue that trend. I want to keep my house clean so that when someone comes to visit I don’t really have anything to do to prepare for their arrival. Being organized has higher priority than keeping things clean, as I tend to keep things pretty clean already.
I think I’ll stick with those two resolutions for now. I’ll add some more if I think of them this month.
Some things I’d like to do this year (not resolutions, just things I think would be fun): go to a Diamondback’s game; go to a Phoenix Symphony concert; go to a musical; go backpacking/camping; and go to a presidential library.
Here’s to 2005!
