My name is Aaron Wood. I am ten years old. I was born in June 2, 1978 in Portland, Oregon. When I was seven, we moved to Auburn Washington. Two years ago, we moved to Glendale. I will tell a little bit about my family and early school years.

My parents names are James Wood and Kathy Wood. My mom is --[1] years old. My mom’s job is being a mother. She picks up groceries and things like that.[2] My dad is -- years old. he works at MWP which stands for Mittleman, Wynn and Pessin. He sells automobile parts to other stores and companies. His office building is at -----------------[3].

My sisters’ names are Katie and Dianne. Katie is the youngest one in the family. She is three years old. Katie will be four in October. She is not in school yet. She is very funny[4]. Dianne is 16. She is in the eleventh grade. She is the oldest kid in the family. [5] She has a driver’s permit. A driver’s permit is a permit that lets you drive as long is there is person that has a drivers license in the car with you.

I have had six animals in my lifetime. First we had Heidi, a Golden Retriever. [6] We didn’t have her very long before she ran away and got lost. Then we had a cat named Fluffy. He was fun to play with and one day he brought a live mouse in to the house. He died of feline leukemia when I was seven. Brownie and Teddy were hamsters. Brownie liked to nibble holes in my mom’s robe. I don’t remember how she died. Teddy was a boy hamster that died while we were on vacation. We think he got too cold.[7] Misty is a Cocker Spaniel. She is now six years old. When I lived in Portland, Oregon she had nine puppies. We had to give them all away. Smokey is my cat. I brought him home from summer camp as a kitten two years ago.

My Kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Holman. It was so long ago that I don’t remember much about it.[8]

My first grade teacher was Mrs. Jones. My class took part in a Writing to Read Program, where we learned to read using computers and typewriters.[9]

My second grade teacher was Mrs. Fichter. It was at Chinook Elementary in Auburn Washington.

In third grade, I had Mr. Fisher. I entered a report for a contest and I got picked to read it for Parent’s Night.[10] I was also in the school spelling bee.[11]

In fourth grade, I was in Mr. Fellas’ class. My friends were Myles, Sam, the two Michaels and Steven. That year we had a student teacher. Her name was Ms. Archer.

This year I have Miss Brown for my teacher. I am playing the cornet[12] in the school band for the first time. Some of my friends are Zack, Michael, Aaron, Keith and Matthew.

Now I’ll tell you about some of my hobbies. I like fishing,[13] stamp collecting,[14] rock collecting and collecting baseball cards.[15] I like to play my cornet and being in Pathfinders, which is my church youth group. It’s sort of like Scouts. I enjoy watching baseball, football and basketball games on T.V.[16] I like to read books, go swimming and camping, and playing with the computer.[17] I also have a job mowing the neighbor’s lawn every week. In my house in Portland, at -------------, my room was yellow.[18] It had one wall with yellow, orange and white striped wallpaper.[19] It had a brown carpet. My room in Auburn, Washington was also painted yellow. It had a green shag rug.[20] That house was located at   --------------. It was out in the country, and I had to ride the bus to school, which was four miles away. My present room is blue,[21] with wall paper on one wall.[22] I have a desk and a large bookcase.

When I grow up I want to be a paleontologist.[23] That’s someone who studies fossil remains. Some of my future projects are to help stop pollution, helping the poor, and find more energy sources.[24]

I will be single and want to have a Cocker Spaniel and a cat.[25]

I want to live in Auburn, Washington[26] in a three-bedroom house that has a spa.

For recreation, I will go camping to many places. I will do this a lot for my job. For my leisure time I will go into my spa and relax.[27]

Some of my dreams are to have a cabin in the forest somewhere in the mountains and to travel a lot. I would like to win the Lottery and buy a Mercedez Benz.[28]

This ends the story of my life so far. I hope to have many more exciting things happen in my life to write about some day.[29]

[1] Hey, you’re not supposed to ask adults their age!

[2] Yes, because we all know that’s all that mothers do. Right…

[3] Apparently I had an incessant need to write out actual addresses for everything. Because of things like credit card fraud, I’ve decided to leave out addresses.

[4] She still is.

[5] Just in case you couldn’t figure that out on your own!

[6] I have no recollection of this animal. I must’ve got some outside help on this paper.

[7] Cruelty to animals! Don’t let PETA find out about this!

[8] Ah, Kindergarten. Must’ve really made a big impression on me.

[9] Computers? In 1985-1986? Cool. We must’ve been a pretty hip-with-it school.

[10] This paper will eventually be on my website. Does the fun ever stop???

[11] I got out on the word “obituary”. You know why? Because the person reading the words pronounced it “obidguary”, which is how I spelled it. Even it had been pronounced correctly, I still would’ve spelled it wrong – “obitchuary”. That probably would’ve been worse.

[12] Still play, except now it’s the trumpet. That means I’ve been playing for 16 years – just in case you couldn’t do the math.

[13] I think I went fishing once. I think I’ve gone one more time since then. Definitely not a hobby.

[14] Still have some stamps. Should probably get them out and do some more work with them. I do still like them, but probably wouldn’t list it as a hobby.

[15] This is a strange one because I believe I purchased my first baseball cards three years later. I suppose it is possible that I purchased a small pack by this time, though.

[16] Anymore, I pretty much don’t like to watch sports on T.V. Watching people who get paid millions of dollars to throw a ball around? Yes, there’s a real contribution to society.

[17] Maybe this is one is foretelling something? Who knew in 1989 that computers would be what they were today and that I’d have my own website?

[18] I don’t know what’s up with yellow. Not a color I’d pick.

[19] What was this place? An insane asylum??? I’m sure it has nothing to do with my current state of mind. What’s that you say? No, I don’t hear any voices in my head. Really, I don’t.

[20] I remember it was soft, but now I wonder what was really living in the carpet.

[21] A much more appropriate color. It was sky-blue, though. What was I thinking?

[22] I still think that was some pretty cool wallpaper that I had. It had old trains on it. And maybe cars and airplanes, too, but I’m not sure. I’ll have to see if I can find a picture of it.

[23] Who am I? Ross from “Friends”? Dinosaurs rule! Well, they did until the whole ice age or flood, depending on your point of view.

[24] All still worthy causes, I must say. Sixteen years later and none of those things have changed significantly.

[25] See, now, if I’d just read this sooner I could’ve saved myself a lot of trouble. Sounds good to me.

[26] I’d rather live here in Phoenix now. I like the sunshine too much. I also think that southern California would be an expensive, errr, nice place to live.

[27] Still working on the spa. That sounds nice, though.

[28] I still would like to win the lottery. However, I don’t think I’d buy a Mercedes Benz. I’d invest it all and live off the interest.

[29] Yep, still more to come.
