I haven’t updated my blog in a while, so this post may spontaneously jump around. Caveat lector.
I have officially completed Unit 1 of my photography class. Most of it was refresher, talking about different kinds of cameras and the three main NYIP rules of picture taking. Those rules essentially are to before every photo 1) ask yourself, “What is the subject”?; 2) ask yourself, “Is my subject clearly visible?”; and 3) ask “What can I do to simplify this photo”. Good stuff, yet easy to forget when taking pictures. I’m hoping to post my three photos for the assignment for Unit 1 up by the end of this weekend.
So, yes, I’m still moving forward with photography. Saving up for a Sony a700 DSLR. Why? Because I can. And because with the new firmware Sony released yesterday, it alleviated any of the concerns I had with that particular camera. I did purchase a new tripod last night as mine was all but falling apart. Its a Manfrotto-Bogen that I purchased from Best Buy using a gift certificate I had received.
Funny story about the tripod purchase. I saw it was on sale on-line, so I thought I’d go to the store and pick it up, if it was on sale there, as well. When I found the tripod section, I saw it was not on sale in the store. So, I walked over to the little computer kiosk and ordered it on bestbuy.com for in-store pickup. Then, I waited a few minutes till I saw an associate walk over and pick it up off the shelf and take it to the back. Waited a few more minutes, then went to the pick-up counter and, yup, picked it up. Good times.
In other news, I interviewed for a valet job. Yep, I’m considering a second job to make a few extra bucks. Pay off some debt (more about my goals around that later). Acquire aforementioned Sony a700. We’ll see how that pans out, as I’m not too sure about it, yet. The interview I went to last weekend was for the new Sheraton opening up in downtown Phoenix. They said the hotel would have 1,000 rooms.
That’s enough for now other than to say life is going pretty dang good.
